How Do You Dry
Micro Ring Hair Extensions?
(and other micro ring extension questions)

"How do you dry micro ring hair extensions?"

Always dry micro ring hair extensions if they get wet.
We get a lot of questions specifically about how to wash micro ring hair extensions (also called micro loop hair extensions or micro bead hair extensions - and used interchangeably in this guide) and inevitably we also receive questions about how to dry micro ring extensions.

Below are two methods for drying your hair which can be used with straight texture micro link hair extensions as well as wavy textured micro link hair extensions and curly texture micro link hair extensions.

Whichever you choose, the most important element of drying micro ring extensions is that the area around the micro rings is not left wet, which includes not sleeping with wet or damp micro link hair extensions.

The micro rings keep the extensions attached to your hair, so in general keep heat and styling products away from the micro links.

Both methods for drying involve combing your micro link hair extensions.

How To Dry Micro Ring Hair Extensions: Towel & Air Drying

Step 1
Divide your hair into two or four sections.

Step 2
Make sure the body of hair (not the roots) is not tangled from being washed. Use your fingers or a wide tooth comb to remove any tangled hair - always start at the ends of the hair and work your way up towards the micro rings. Don’t pull or tug at any knots as you don’t want any of the micro ring link hair extensions to loosen or slip off.

Step 3
Once you have detangled the body of the hair, slowly and gently run your fingers across each of the micro rings to make sure that they haven't become tangled during washing. If any of the micro rings are tangled, gently separate them trying not to pull or tug at them or your hair.

Step 4
Once your hair is fully detangled, pat your head (a blotting motion) with the towel to dry it.

Step 5
Take hold of one section of hair (if you have sectioned it) and gently squeeze starting at the top (near the micro rings) and working your way down to the ends. Avoid rubbing the hair as this causes tangling. It might be helpful to use a smaller towel to dry the hair that's closes to the actual micro rings.

Step 6
Repeat steps 2, 3, 4 and 5 for the next section of hair.

Step 7
Once your hair has fully dried, repeat step 2 and 3 and then style as required.

This method can be used on any of the textures available for micro ring hair extensions.

How to Dry Micro Ring Hair Extensions: Blow Drying

Step1
Divide your hair into two or four sections.

Step 2
Make sure the body of hair (not the roots) is not tangled from being washed. Use your fingers or a wide tooth comb to remove any tangled hair - always start at the ends of the hair and work your way up towards the micro rings. Don’t pull or tug at any knots as you don’t want the micro ring loop hair extensions to become dislodged and slip off.

Step 3
Once you have detangled the body of the hair, slowly and gently run your fingers across each of the micro rings to make sure that they haven't become tangled during washing. If any of the micro rings are tangled, gently separate them trying not to pull or tug at them or your hair.

Step 4
Once your hair is fully detangled, use a towel to pat your head using a blotting motion.

Step 5
Take hold of one section of hair (if you have sectioned it) and gently squeeze starting at the top (near the micro rings) and working your way down to the ends. At this point the hair should be very damp but not dripping heavily.

Step 6
Set your hair dryer to the lowest heat and output setting and begin to dry your hair. Use a low output setting so that you can control your hair - if the hair is blasted in different directions, it can cause it to tangle and get caught in the actual micro rings.

Step 7
Repeat steps 2, 3, 4 and 6 for the next section of hair.

Step 8
Once your hair has fully dried, repeat step 2 and 3 and then style as required.

Alternative
Steps 4 and 5 can be skipped, however partially towel drying your micro ring hair extensions means you'll spend less time blow drying your hair which is better for the hair.

Always wash and dry micro ring hair extensions after swimming, using sun beds or saunas.
